International conference “Quality Education for Children at Social Risk.Sharing best practices and starting a dialogue”. Estonia, Tallinn-Keila, 17-21 March 2014
SOS Children`s Villages is an international charity organization that offers a home for children without parental care and works with families at risk of child abandonment. Besides supporting families to ensure children`s wellbeing in the future we also care for their education as they often have school problems due to their difficult childhood. Schools and teachers cannot or do not have enough resources to offer sufficient help.
In order to exchange experience and strengthen cooperation between different parties involved in the education of children at social risk we will organize a conference „Quality Education for Children at Social Risk“ in Estonia 17th-21st of March 2014.
Conference Venue is Keila School, Ehitajate road 1, Keila, Estonia (25 km from Tallinn).
Transportation will be provided to and from Tallink Hotel and Keila School once a day.
Public transportation Keila-Tallinn will be accessible at one’s own costs. Further information about times and prices will be shared at the conference desk.
The 5-day conference will include plenary presentations with high-level specialists as well as presentations on EUCB education projects and best practices in countries. The conference includes a one-day study visit to different locations (Haapsalu, Lahemaa, Põltsamaa, Rakvere, and Tallinn).
Main topics of the conference are: student-centred individualised teaching and learning; inclusive and non-discriminatory approach; networking and cooperation between education stakeholders.
We expect 150-200 participants taking part in the conference from SOS Children`s Villages as well as their partners from schools, kindergartens and local municipalities from approximately 20-30 countries worldwide, mainly Central and Eastern Europe and CIS countries.
The conference language will be English. Presentations can be made in English or Russian. A translation of English-Russian will be provided at the plenaries and partly during parallel presentations and workshops.
The abstract and the heading should be written in the language of presentation (English or Russian).
In case of presentation in Russian the translation of the abstract and heading into English must be provided in brackets by the author.
